   Solution-Focused Psychotherapy

To be effective, therapy needs to stay 'on track'. We establish
on the first session where it is you want to go and how we'll monitor your
progress. It is essential that we both know what you want the therapy to
achieve and how to know when it has already been achieved.

With Solution-Focused Psychotherapy, the emphasis is always
working towards solutions, with you being able to develop new skills which
may have been lacking, or re-discovering forgotten skills.

          The 9 basic emotional needs

Our basic needs are hardwired into us and what identify us as
human. When our basic needs in life are met, we have the spare capacity
to enoy life and focus on our real potential. They are:

                                     · A sense of safety and security
                                     · Giving and receiving attention
                                     · Taking heed to the mind/body connection
                                     · Status
                                     · Connection to something bigger than oneself
                                     · Challenge and creativity
                                     · Meaning and purpose
                                     · Intimacy
                                     · Having a sense of control

Some people spend whole lifetimes striving to fulfill basic needs
and therefore fail to develop the 'spare capacity' to focus on other things.
When basic needs are not met we will instinctively try to meet in ways that
may be damaging or unsustainable such as through addiction and obsessively
               creating negative scenarios.

All psychological and and many physical problems result from
unmet basic needs and, in turn, may actually block their satisfaction.
